Poker Tournaments and Live Coverage

At Time Square Casino in Menlyn Maine, Pretoria, we throw open the doors to the annual SunBet Poker Tour. Regular festival series, scattered across the calendar, bring a line-up of major events right to our tables. The 2025 series from 26 February to 9 March featured the Main Event, High Roller, Mystery Bounty Cup, and multiple PLO games. In 2024, our tournament counted 391 entries, with the prize pool jumping to ZAR 4,926,600.

We stream final tables live on SunBet, including hole cards and chip stacks. Even once the cards are off the felt, you can replay older finals or dig into pivotal hands from previous events if you want a refresher.

You can find Time Square in Menlyn Maine, at 209 Aramist Avenue. This is a large casino in Pretoria, covering two bustling floors and offering more than 60 casino tables, poker and other casino table games, and classics like blackjack, roulette, baccarat.

Signing Up for Tournaments

Everything kicks off at the tournament desk right downstairs. You’ll show a valid ID, double-check your event details and buy-in, sort your payment and you’re set - your seat and chip stack will be assigned right away.

Arriving late? No problem, most events allow for late registration during the early levels. Sometimes, if you’re knocked out early, re-entry gives you a quick second life at the felt (only during specific heat periods).

Satellite qualifiers pop up at various Sun International spots throughout South Africa. These qualifiers can help you win your way into headline events like the Main - definitely cuts down the upfront cost.

Winners and Payout Highlights

In 2024, Harold Brooks landed ZAR 714,287 after the final table chop in the Main Event. Patrice Ah-Nien came in right behind (ZAR 555,000). Sugen Singh championed the last Main, Ray Adam clinched the Business Person’s Invitational, and Imran Bhojani picked up the High Roller trophy.

Prize money gets distributed by tried-and-tested poker tournament rules. Here’s how the 2024 Main Event final paid out:

Sometimes at the last table, remaining contenders work out deal splits based on chip counts - tournament staff step in to record and finalize all changes before payouts adjust.

Tables, Floor Access and Playing Cash Games

We keep the casino open day and night, 365 days. That’s more than 1,750 slot machines and 60 casino tables, across two busy levels. Standard table games roll on, but during poker tourneys, several tables might get converted for exclusive tournament use.

Need to handle deposits or take out winnings? Cash desks throughout the casino help with both. There are ATMs for South African banks right beside main gaming zones. Players looking for something quieter - our Sun Lounge offers private gaming spaces, but you’ll want to book in advance as minimum buy-ins may apply.

Cash game poker? It depends on tournament schedules, so it’s worth checking ahead before your visit. For guests’ convenience, helpful floor staff are available to answer questions and guide you to ongoing or upcoming games.

Setting Up Player Accounts and Loyalty Membership

Our Sun MVG loyalty scheme lets you track your play across all Sun International locations. It’s all started at our loyalty desk - just bring your South African ID or passport, fill in the form, and we’ll hand you your member card.

Your points stack up as you play tables or slots. These convert into tournament tickets, food and drink vouchers, or even discounts on your hotel room. High-level members get special perks like priority access to private rooms or invites to members-only tournaments and events.

My Sun, our digital portal, puts all your information into one place. You log in with details from your registration, check your points, and can save preferred banking info for easy transactions.
